The 2018 Career Academy is from June 11th – 28th. Below is the tentative schedule and outline for this year’s academy.


Infrastructure (June 11th – 15th) – Hosted at State College of Florida Manatee-Sarasota

Day 1 – Welcome, Leadership Development (Myers-Briggs / StrengthFinders)

Day 2 – Stephen Covey’s 7 Habits for Highly Effective People Workshop

Day 3 – SIMSOC (Simulated Society)

Day 4 – Personal & Digital Branding, Professional Etiquette, Resume/LinkedIn, Interviewing Skills (Political Leaders Lunch)

Day 5 – Conflict Management, Time Management Skills, Financial Literacy, FAFSA, Communication Skills (College Representation Lunch)


Industry (June 18th – 22nd) – Host Location depends on Academy selection

  • First Aid & CPR Certification, Healthcare Career Pathways, First Responders…

Hospitality – Hosted at University of South Florida Sarasota-Manatee

  • Pathways in Hospitality, Culinary Project, Guest Services Gold Certification, Certified Guest Services Professional

Business – Hosted at New College of Florida

  • Pathways in business and professional services, Entrepreneurship & Small Business Certification, Business Project

Technology – Hosted at Ringling College of Art & Design

  • Pathways in Technology (Information Technology, Engineering, and Design), Microsoft Technology Associate Certification, Graphic/Multimedia Design, Design Project


Internship Week (June 25th – 28th) – Host depends on location of internship

During the student’s internship week, they will receive hands-on experiences and learn the world of their selected industry.
